Blue liner makeup dominates at Fashion Week

Last winter, Fashion Week fall-winter 2022-2023 reset the counters in fashion and beauty. Of all the trends we've seen on the catwalks, blue makeup has been one of the most visual predictions. From the blush placed flat on the entire eyelid to the line of vibrant eyeliner , blue was on everyone's eyes. The original inspiration was obviously the beauty treatment of the 1960s. At that time, the eyelids were often tinted with ultra-pigmented cream shadows that made women look like dolls. There are three main ways to make up your eyes with blue and all have different inspirations. The creamy Twiggy flat is one of the most iconic. But some beautystas preferwork on their eyeshadow with deeper shadows or even shades , blending from the lashline to the eyebrows , as we did in the 80's . This is the case of makeup artist Charlie Riddle for the Kim Shui fashion show which took place in New York last February. The trend is taken up by Jennifer Lopez and her ultra-hot smoky blue eyeshadow and Paola Locatelli with her hypnotizing gradient on the Miu Miu fashion show.

What are the makeup methods that make you young?

If you are an older person who uses makeup and wants to look young, please take the time to read this.

Many people over the age of 40 think that doing heavy makeup like teens and young adults do today will make them look young.

It doesn’t. It just makes you look really tacky.

(I know, you all say you’re still young when you turn 40, blah blah blah, I’m going to be real with you. Unless you have literally never seen the sun, you’re probably at least showing the beginning signs of aging so listen up.)

I know I’m stepping on a lot of toes, but I really want to help you older folks out. Here’s how you should apply your makeup to avoid looking like a clown. (before you leave me a nasty comment, please read my footnote.)

Brows

As a person ages, their eyebrow will begin to thin, starting from the end. Don’t apply a brow pomade, as they only look good on people who have naturally thick brows. That goes for anyone, no matter your age. Fill in where there is hair with a powder or with gentle pencil strokes, and blend it out with a spoolie. Then,

extend the end of your brow, but not past the outer corner of your eye.

clean up around the messy edges with a makeup wipe.

Your end product should turn out something like this, depending on your natural shape:

And whatever you do, do not use a stencil:

They do not suit a single person’s natural shaping.

Eye Shadow

It is hard how to explain how to correctly apply eyeshadow because it is specific to your eye shape. I strongly suggest you stick to these rules:

don’t apply more than two shades at once

don’t bring your eye shadow so high up that it touches your eyebrow

BLEND. This is the biggest eye shadow issue I see in all ages.

Don’t put on a bright eye shadow with no other makeup on. Maybe it’s a southern thing, but I see this problem every single time I go into public.

I think these are really gorgeous examples of eye shadow looks that would greatly compliment an older person:

Eyeliner

This is the worst aspect of makeup I see on older folks. I don’t know where you all saw this and thought it was a good idea, but let’ s talk about this technique:

Please don’t walk out the door with eyeliner on your bottom lid. This approach is only attractive with a dramatic smokey eye with big lashes and dark under eye shadow, which I don’t suggest you do unless you want the recovering alcoholic look.

I know that eyeliner is really hard and I would not recommend trying to do a wing. Wings are hard on smooth skin and impossible to perfect on eyes with crow’s feet. I would opt for no eyeliner because dark makeup makes you look older, but I know many people feel very shy without it. If you are one of those people, then consider trying to apply it like so:

you can either apply on your upper waterline, or on the lid (but as close to the lash line as possible!)

Blush

Don’t smile when you apply your blush. When you relax your face, the blush will be too low, like this woman’s:

Relax your face when you apply your blush, because then it will still fit your face no matter your expression.

Summary:

Keep it natural, and don’t push yourself out of your comfort zone. Don’t apply heavy makeup to try and look like your 14 year old granddaughter.

I want to end by saying that at the end of the day, do whatever makes you happy. Everything above is just my opinion, and only that. I don’t even know you or what you look like at all. You might look bomb with heavy, dramatic makeup, and even if you don’t: Makeup is for you and you only, so do whatever makes you feel the most beautiful. Not your husband, not your daughter, not even your boss. YOU. Don’t ever change your appearance just because someone said you should.

Edit: I noticed a few commenters mentioning that shimmers tend to settle into creases. If you find youtself running into this issue, a good primer and setting spray will increase your wear time.

Can you wear false eyelashes without eyeliner?

Yes. You can get clear lash glue and there won’t be a line of black or anything. I would recommend getting them as close to the lash line as humanly possible if you want to wear them this way though, otherwise you might look like they’re trying to fly away lol.

What's the difference between smudged eyeliner and smokey eyeliner in makeup?

One is definitely going to be darker and more dramatic, where the other could pass for “Day” or Natural makeup!

Smudge generally offers a soft blend whereas Smokey needs much more blending (which of course covers more surface area; this is where the “drama” comes in)

You can use an eyeliner, smudge stick or even an eye shadow and a small detail brush to apply and smudge (gently push).

Taking a liner, apply your desired eyeliner shape, then stack a matching shadow on top and use a dense blending brush to diffuse this upward (while still following the shape of liner) and then use a clean fluffy brush to further diffuse the edges for a seamless shadow transition AKA the telltale Smokey Effect.

Um .. I just have to ask. Is this some kind of code for something else? If not, the question really should be why would you want to put eyeliner on a kitten? It’s a struggle to keep them still long enough to clean their eye buggies much less try to put on eyeliner without poking them in the eye or getting sliced all to hell with their murder mittens. Cats don’t need make up and I can promise they wouldn’t like it so I highly recommend not doing it. Don’t do weird things with cats or any animal please. 🐱

What is a makeup technique that everyone loves but is actually terrible?

BAKING! Unless you are in drag or in a theatrical production where the audience is seated at a distance, there is no reason to apply a ton of powder under the eyes and let it sit there for awhile before brushing it away. Very few people have absolutely smooth undereye skin due to the placement of the eyeball in the socket-powder accentuates any wrinkles, so backing is my number one “don’t do it”’ list.

Why does eyeliner irritate my eyes?

Not all eyeliners will irritate your eyes. If you are wearing one that does than there’s an ingredient in there that does not agree with you. Try different ones until you find one that doesn’t irritate you. You may be having an allergic reaction !

Does using red eyeshadow on pale skin around blue eyes make you look like you have pink eye?

I think as long as the eye shadow looks nice it will be fine. It has to be extra clean and blended when you use red/pink. I’d make sure to use concealer to clean up the edges to make it sharp. And maybe avoid putting any on your lower lash line. Also- doing a cut crease and/or adding some shimmer will help avoid making it look like pink eye.

Michael Keaton in the Tim Burton Batman movies also had black makeup around his eyes while he wore the cowl.

It’s been many years since I watched the Burton Bats, but IIRC and judging from a quick Google Image search, the black makeup around the eyes seems to “magically” disappear when he removes the cowl(probably achieved by having the makeup removed in between takes):

Yep. I did a bit of checking, and from what I can find, black makeup around the eyes is present while wearing the cowl for both Bale Batman and Batfleck.

In both cases, whenever we see them not wearing the cowl, no black makeup is visible from what I’ve been able to find.

So, at least recently, every live-action movie Batman has, while wearing the cowl, had black makeup around his eyes, probably to blend in better, and until Battinson, none of them AFAIK have been seen with the cowl removed but the makeup still present.

Thank you for asking me this question!

It depends on your eyebrows. If they are thin and are not so long then it’s not needed. But if it’s already thick and is long then I would recommend you to use an eyebrow gel to form and make it stay firm all-day-long.

As you can see, the gel makes the eyebrow stay in place.

How do I apply Halloween eye makeup?

It really depends on what look you’re going for.

Skeleton or demon-y type looks you can just go full black paint: (I used UV makeup to make my lashes stand out here.)

I wanted to try half Jack and half Sally for this one a few years ago:

Then a zombie clown thingy I done in lockdown 2020, if you want eye makeup in this kind of style then the blend is your friend. Blend very lightly round in small circles to blend up and out towards the brown tail, then layer. I started with orange here then went in with deeper orange, red, gold and a bit of yellow towards the brow that you can barley see because my phone quality wasn’t great.

A sewn mouth look I wanted to try out a few years ago with basic eyeshadow. Actually the first Halloween look I done I’m sure.

Halloween 2019. Just blended browns and golds on the lid then done black “tears”.

Most recent Halloween attempt in 2021. Again just black paint round the eyes with some hemp string, I wish I’d put more effort into the finished look of this one but I made the teeth myself and had to make a “gum line” to stick them to, then that to my face and by the end of the day my back was killing me from the whole process and I just wanted to get it finished.

I have a few more but I think this is enough pics haha. As you can see, NONE of these are perfect. Not one. Makeup is all about fun, especially Halloween makeup so just have fun with it. Express yourself, try new things, see what you like and don’t like, find a technique you like and work on it. But most importantly, have fun with it :)

My daughter is an MUA. She said the the Fit me foundations are excellent. She was die hard Este lauder double wear fan but she uses the Fit me ones on her own face now too.

Eye shadows by Morphe are nice and pigmented at a good price too.

When applying false eyelashes, are there "right" ones, and "left" ones?

They should be left & right unless they are the longer untrimmed ones. You can usually tell by looking. The inner lashes are shorter while the outer lashes are longer- like on your natural lashes.

Have you met a person who you thought was ordinary but actually was from a powerful and wealthy family?

This is a story from a novel. Freya has met such a man.

Freya was supposed to attend a gala with her aunt and cousins. The gala was to raise money to increase awareness about rare diseases. This was significant to Freya because her brother suffered from the same condition and was in a wheelchair.

The gala had a lot of activities, including silent auctions and dates with mysterious billionaires. That was what Freya heard from her cousin Eliza gushing to one of her girlfriends. Freya had lost her memories in an accident, so she didn't see it as a pretty big deal.

She continued with her house chores because that was what she was supposed to do. Her little brother told her that their parents had died while they were still young. So, they have been living with their cruel aunt. Her working and slaving herself in that huge house was a payment for them living there and the treatments for his brother. Freya would slave away for a lifetime if it meant that his brother's treatment would continue, which was why she attended the gala. Her aunt told her that she was supposed to go to meet a rich potential husband.

At the gala, Freya was also to participate in the bidding war. They were to send some flowers and a ribbon to the one they were interested in. During the event, she was hesitant to approach any person. She still felt out of sorts. Maybe it was because she felt her name was still foreign to her ears, or perhaps this was not her scene.

Freya spent most of her time on the sidelines drinking a glass of champagne. Freya itched to have a book to read to kill time. She started glancing around to see if anyone was watching her. Most people here would think it would be rude for her to read a book during such an event.

While she was doing that, she came across the most peculiar set of eyes staring straight at her from a man. They were strikingly golden. She thought of fire when she looked at his eyes. Freya also noticed that he was on the far side of the room, not talking with anyone, so she smiled at him. she felt a pull towards him, which was like they understood each other. What surprised Freya the most was that he was wearing regular clothes to a party, that everyone else was wearing tuxedos and evening gowns.

Freya decided to give him the flowers and tied her pale blue ribbon on his wrist. He didn't resist and was just staring at her. Was it disbelief? Freya had no idea. The auctions and bidding started.

The eligible bachelors were supposed to pick up one lady from the flowers and ribbons they received. They went to the stage. Freya was positive that the handsome stranger would not pick him. Even though they had a pull, she felt inadequate. She was wearing a simple hand-me-down dress from her cousin Eliza.

The bachelors picked out their dates and the one remaining was the handsome stranger with the most beautiful eyes. She decided to leave when he was introduced as the most eligible bachelor and the CEO of the famous tech company in the city. He was filthy rich. He hid in his plain clothes. Yes! I have long, dark eyelashes that look great with mascara and curl up with no problem. But when I use an eyelash curler as well, OMG my eyes look double amazing! I think it is the finishing touch to my look and wouldn't go a day without it.

Try this: do one eye normal with mascara and the other the same but using an eyelash curler and look in the mirror at the difference. I think you'll agree and be hooked! It's also excellent for those with short or sparse lashes. It gives that extra “oomph” that really makes your eyes stand out.

Tip: try a colored mascara for an extra flirty look, like purple, olive green, or my favorite, Cobalt blue!

Can you use a 10-year-old eyeshadow?

I don’t know, I’ve never had a shadow palette last that long. Personally I wouldn’t use it. There are just too many variables that would be involved with make-up that old.

Attended Paroksh yogi Himalayan meditation camp once1y

What is the 21-day meditation challenge of the Shri Paroksh Yogi Community Uttarakhand (India)? How was your experience?

Everyone shared their beautiful experiences here and I enjoyed reading them all, but I will share both the pros and the cons.

There is no doubt that, these guided meditations are very simple and easy to follow. But, should everyone try all types of meditations of this community? I would say NO!

Maha Rudra Kriya and effortlessness guided meditations of step 1 are mild ones and can be practiced by anyone. But meditations of step 2 & 3 are not mild meditations.

One of my friends, was so confident that he is a sincere spiritual seeker and in his overconfidence without completing the 3 steps schedule, he directly downloaded the advanced audio guide of this community — the self realization guide. Whatever he had read or heard about spirituality so far was all shaken by that 2 hour long audio guide. He got so inspired that he was ready to resign from his well paid IT job and was ready to go to the Himalayas permanently. Then I had to intervene, because his family thought that I had done something to him. In the end, I asked him to write to the community directly and they convinced him that there is no need to leave his job or family and they will keep on guiding him in his spiritual path. Now everything is fine, but I sent an email to the yogi community requesting them to remove this audio guide from their website because such things should only be shared with people who are mature enough to handle it or in presence of expert teachers. They have not removed it yet, but I hope they will listen to my request.

If you are a hard core materialistic person who loves the rat race and only wants some peace of mind as a short break, then I my suggestion is step 1 of the online meditation program is enough for you and stay away from other intermediate or advanced level guided meditations, forget about attending their Himalayan camp and never go to their Shiv temple because by doing so you may slowly become desireless. However, if you feel that rat race is meaningless and you value your inner peace of mind more than anything else, then they are the experts in guiding you.

Because this question is not about their Himalayan camp, but about their online meditation program which is mandatory prerequisite to apply for their camp, here are my experiences:

Step 1 — Maha Rudra Kriya and effortlessness meditations both are very simple and easy to follow methods to relax your mind. Anyone can listen to these and you can share with your family & friends safely. I still use these audios often to relax my mind.

Step 2 — Go deeper guided meditation teases you to question your beliefs and dares you to find the real truth. As the name suggests, go deeper helps you enquire who you are really? By entering deeper layers of your mind.

Step 3 — Completeness guided meditation is one of my favourite. If step 2 helps in cleaning the mind and flush out all the old rotten beliefs, the step 3 adds a beautiful fragrance after the much needed cleaning. It makes you feel how complete and close you are from your real true self.

The self realization guide is an advanced level audio guide. I have no words to say what it can do. I would say if you really pay attention to each word of this audio then there will be no need to read any spiritual book or any spiritual literature after that. It's a complete guide and last part of audio has a deep guided meditation in which meditation teacher’s deep & soothing voice is enough to take you to the thought less state.

How can I apply eyeliner with my eyes open without freaking out?

Instead of standing while looking in the mirror, lay a hand mirror flat on the counter and bend over while applying it. Your eyes will be open but because you're looking down it's easier. The same goes for if you wear false eyelashes. Give it a try. It works like a charm.

Avoid attempting to draw a "wing" to appear devious. When you double line with shadow, the result is smokeier; when you use liquid liner, the result is sharper. Both add definition without giving off a stiff appearance thanks to layering.

How do you get the perfect eyebrow arch?

Part 1 of 3:Preparing to Pluck Your Eyebrows

1. Make sure you have the right equipment.

You will need several tools to shape your eyebrows correctly.

You will need sharp tweezers. One of the mistakes many people make when tweezing is they use old, dull tweezers. Replace your tweezers if yours are getting dull on the ends.

Find a magnification mirror. This will help you see smaller, lighter hairs that are harder to spot using a conventional mirror.

Get an eyebrow pencil. You will need this to reference and mark where your brows will begin and end, as well as where the highest point in your eyebrow arch goes.

You will also need an eyebrow brush and trimming scissors.

2. Clean your tweezers.You should never perform any type of brow shaping without a clean tool.

Consider getting a case for them if they get dirty in your makeup case or medicine cabinet.

If your tweezers are dirty and caked with makeup from your makeup case, wash them with warm water first.

You can sterilize tweezers with rubbing alcohol.

Let them dry before you use them.

3. Brush your brows with the eyebrow brush.Trim the ends of your hairs with the eyebrow trimming scissors.

Start by brushing your brows upward.

Then use the brow scissors to trim just the ends of the longest hairs. Angle your scissors horizontally and trim the tips of the hairs along the edges of the eyebrow.

Trimming the hair will reveal your brow shape and remove weight and bulk so you can see better when you are shaping your brows.

Brush your eyebrow hair back downward before you start shaping.

Part 2 of 3:Marking Shaping Points for Your Eyebrows

1. Determine your face shape.This will help you decide what shape for your eyebrows will be best.

If you have a square face, the sides of your face are straight and your jawline is slightly angled with a minimal curve. Your face is nearly as wide as it is long.

If you have a round face, your face will be wider with soft angles. The sides of your face will curve outwards rather than be straight. Your chin will be rounded and your cheekbones will be the widest part of your face.

People whose faces are longer than they are wide have a long face shape. The forehead, cheek and jawline are roughly the same width and the chin has a very slight curve.

If your chin is pointed and your forehead is the widest part of your face then you have a heart shaped face.

People with oval faces will have a forehead that is only a tiny bit wider than their curved chin.

2. Decide what shape your brows should be based on your face shape.

Most people would not think to do this, but your face shape should determine what general shape your brows should take.

If you have a square, angular face shape, you should opt for thick, well defined eyebrows. Cosmetologists recommend going to a bolder look if you have a face that is more or less square shaped, since your face is already so well defined. It wouldn't look natural to contrast this with a thinner eyebrow.

For those with longer faces, beauty experts suggest a flatter, thinner eyebrow. This will help to open up your face in a sideways direction.

If you have a heart shaped face, you should opt for a softer rounded arch. This will help to balance out a sharper, pointed chin.

For those with oval faces, this face type will look good with most brow shapes. This will depend more on your personal preference.

3. Determine where your brows should begin.You can use an eyebrow pencil to help you find this landmark.

Most people dread having a uni-brow, but a common mistake when shaping eyebrows is taking off too much from the middle of the face.

Most people use the nostril of their nose as a landmark for where their eyebrows should begin, but beauty experts suggest the side of the bridge of the nose is actually the correct reference point.

To find the place where your brows should start, hold your eyebrow pencil vertically right besides the outer side of your nostrils (the "ala"), parallel to the side of the bridge of your nose.

Mark this landmark on your eyebrow with your eye pencil.

4. Find where your brows should end on the side of your face.Another mistake many people make is trimming the sides of the brows too short.

Angle your eye pencil from your nostril to the far corner of your eye.

This point is where your eyebrow should end.

Mark this point on your face with your eye pencil.

5. Locate where the highest point of your eyebrow arch should be.This should be slightly right of the center of your eyebrow.

Remember, if you have a rounder face, you will want the arch to be high.

Those with a longer face should opt for a flatter eyebrow with a less defined arch.

Hold your eye pencil vertically. Line it up with the far side of your iris.

This area just to the side of center will be where the highest point of the arch should be.

Mark this area with your eye pencil.

Part 3 of 3:Shaping Your Eyebrows

1. Look in the magnification mirror.

You will be able to see all the hairs that need to be plucked.

At this point you can also use your eyebrow pencil to lightly color in the exact shape of your eyebrows. It might be difficult to do this over your eyebrow hair, but even a thin outline of the ideal shape of your eyebrow can help.

Any hairs outside of this shape will need to be plucked.

Make sure your aren't making your eyebrows too thin. One of the mistakes most people make is removing too much hair from the top and bottom of their eyebrows.

A good rule is to only remove 2-3 rows of hairs from above and below the eyebrow.

2. Start by plucking the hairs in between your eyes.This will clean up the beginning of your eyebrows.

Position the tip of the tweezers at the base of each hair and pull it out from the base.

Don't pluck past the landmark point you marked or your eyebrows will look too short.

Look in the mirror to make sure you haven't missed any stray hairs before moving on to the next area.

3. Make the arch of your eyebrow.Make sure you are angling the shape of your brows up towards your arch landmark.

Remove one or two rows of hairs. As you remove your hair you might have to remove more hair as you angle up towards your arch landmark.

As you remove hair at the apex of the arch of your brow, be careful not to make your eyebrows have a very angular and sharply angled arch.

Once you reach your arch landmark you should start angling the shape of your eyebrows downwards towards the far corner of your eye.

The ends of your eyebrows should end in a fine taper.

Try not to shape the arch of your eyebrow as a sharp angle. A smoothly curved brow will look more natural.

4. Examine the shape of your eyebrows.You want to make sure that they look smooth and natural.

The thickest part of the eyebrow should be at the middle of your face by your nose.

The brow should then gradually taper to a point at the end by the far corner of your eye.

At the arch, you should not have a sharp angled shape, but rather a smoothly curved transition. Your eyebrows should look natural.

5. Make sure that your brows look even.You don't want one to look thicker or higher than the other.

Remove any missed hairs. By looking in your magnification mirror, you will be able to see where there are inconsistencies between your two eyebrows.

If you accidentally remove part of your brow or thin it too much, use a brow pencil to fill the missing hair.

Remember, dark brown pencil is best even for those with darker complexions as it will look more natural than a black pencil.

It sure can!! I have used Vaseline as a makeup remover since I was 15yrs old and first started wearing makeup!! My mom was a cosmetologist and she also did makeup.. and she told me then it did wonders, ESPECIALLY for waterproof mascara!!! It has also helped me retain a youth appearance!! I am almost 50 and am mistaken for 30 ALLL the time!!! I still get carded for cigarettes at some places!! So yes, it is awesome as a remover and moisturizer!!!!

What is the best eyeshadow palette for beginners in make-up?

Eyeshadow palettes are a good investment and a bad one.

Good because you get many colours at a comparatively lower price (than if you were to buy single colours) and bad because you may need several palettes to have all colours.

For a beginner I’d recommend going for nude/neutral coloured palettes with maybe 1–2 dark colours.

I don't see a lot of frosty blue anymore. It was my first shadow when I was a kid, but seems to have fallen out of favor. Too bad for brown-eyed people, because blue can really make them pop. I did find two easily available compacts though…

When I use a concealer, my eyes look darker and older. How do I cover my dark circles?

It sounds like you need a corrector, which is not the same thing as a concealer, and should be applied before the concealer. A corrector is a colour that is a colour that is a direct opposite of the colour that you are trying to hide — for a fair person like me, a corrector will be a peachy orange colour, and for a dark skinned person, a scarlet red will work a corrector colour. Usually orange tones work well because orange is the opposite of purple, and bluish to purple tones are usually what need disguised under the eyes, as the dark circles we all hate are usually the result of veins from beneath the skin showing through the thin skin around the eye area. The key is choosing a corrector that is orangey enough to hide the darkness under the eyes — don’t be afraid of a colour that you think looks unattractive, as it is only there to disguise the dark under eye tones and should “disappear” when applied thinly enough…. And also remembering to apply only a THIN layer, followed ALWAYS by a thin layer of concealer that matches (or is only slightly lighter than) your skin tone. Choosing a concealer that is too light will also make your eye look darker and older, contrary to what you may expect. A thin layer of orange-based corrector followed by a thin layer of a creamy concealer, followed by a thin layer of translucent setting powder patted lightly on with a brush (notice I said a THIN layer of all) and you will be covered for a good 12 hour day without creasing. In my opinion, Bobby Brown makes good corrector colours, as does Makeup Forever, the former coming in pots and MUF in little tubes. I also like Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, Tarte Shape Tape and Kat Von D for good, long lasting concealers all available in a wide range of colours that apply thinly, crease minimally and last all day.

My little sister did my prom make-up because she’s been wearing make-up almost her whole life (she did dance and wore it for recitals as a kid).

Today, she makes a hobby out of special effect make-up for Halloween.

When it comes to wearing make-up, there is no “should”. You don’t have to at all. It’s okay.

If you want to, you could start at 11. Keep it simple at first and don’t let it stress you out. Personally, at your age I would keep it as natural looking as possible. But that’s my opinion.

Ultimately be comfortable however you decide to go and feel free to experiment a little too.

Can Vaseline be used as an eye makeup remover?

ABSOLUTELY!

My grandmother was a beautiful lady and always had a very specific bedtime ritual. I learned when I was 5 years old, that Vaseline was her beauty Secret.

She used it to take off her eye makeup and then she’d pat it on her under eye skin and leave it on overnight as an intensive moisturizer and anti-wrinkle agent. She sometimes used it all over her face as well.

I started using her techniques when I was in high school. I still get carded on occasion, for trying to buy a bottle of wine at the grocery store...

People also use Vaseline on their eyebrows to encourage thicker growth, so it's not bad for your eyelashes either!

I know too, that a common celebrity trick involves smearing Vaseline over the front of your teeth for for an extra shiny smile!

Sometimes the old fashioned, forgotten ways are very worth remembering!

There’re a lot of tricks you can do other than having a dramatic eyeshadow look, and actually a “dramatic” eyeshadow is more of the opposite of what you should be doing to make your eyes appear bigger, here are some of the tricks

Use a beige liner on your lower lash line (steer away from white liners, they look very unnatural and weird) I also suggest you drag it a little into your inner eye corner

You can also add a darker color liner/eyeshadow under it to make your eyes pop out in a nice way

Avoid dark colors on your crease, they’ll make them appear smaller, If you wish to use a dark color for your look try going for a cut-crease look instead

Big eyelashes are the way to go! Whether you choose applying mascara or false lashes. Though if you’re going for a false lashes look, choose lashes that differ in length, like the one shown in the picture

The right eye lenses is a game changer! Make sure the color you choose flatter your skin undertones and most importantly make your eyes

pop. That doesn’t mean you should choose the brightest colors whatsoever, you can go for a natural color but a little bigger in size than your natural pupils.

Lipstick! Hands down lipstick!

I’m a 42 year old, bisexual male who loves to wear lipstick! It’s my one makeup item I can wear every day and it literally takes no time to put it on! I spend more time trying to decide which one to wear for the day. Most days I’ll take two lipsticks with me and keep them in my front trousers pocket.

One of my fave things is to go to the restroom either at work or a public restroom and apply my lipstick then blot it onto a paper hand towel and leave it clearly visible in the trash can. I can only imagine the thoughts when the other men see it laying there!

I do enjoy wearing full makeup for special occasions or if I want to have a bit more “finished” look for the day but lipstick is my favorite part of makeup!

How do you prevent eyeshadow fallout from ruining your makeup?

Personally, I use an eye shadow shield. I just stick them on and don’t worry about messing my base while doing my eye makeup. It looks like this:

I usually buy them in bulk (50 pieces or so) and they’d last me a long while since I really don’t do heavy eye makeup on a daily basis. They come in handy when I go to formal events or a night out where I need to be in full glam.

But other people usually apply their eye shadow first before foundation. Some would put lots of translucent loose powder under their eyes (baking, as it’s called) and then brush them off afterwards.

Actually, I just do what I want to do.

I never get bored to use eyeliner. Eyeliner is a mandatory for me because of my small eye. I think when I use eyeliner it becomes more define and more bold. And if I need to go to special occasion or I have an enough time, I do a full eye makeup, including falsies (it really takes time for me)

First thing I do is applying an eye primer or concealer on my eye lid. Then, followed by setting it with translucent powder or bone color of eye shadow. Next, it depends. Sometimes I usually do a crease area with transition color then an outer area. Or I just applied a light neutral color on my eyelid then smoke to the outer part. I also finished with some shimmer eye shadow in the center of the eye to make it pops out.

For my favorite eye shadow palette is Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow

Favorite eyeliner by Essence Liquid Ink Eyeliner Waterproof

Favorite mascara for my short lashes is Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Mascara

And the mandatory tools are brushes. I really enjoyed myself when applying the eye makeup with Sigma brushes.

Hey Lovelynn! Thanks for asking ME this great question of yours! They're is actually a couple of tips for dealing with straight lashes. They're mascaras specifically designed for curling your lashes. It will tell you on the items description if it's MADE for Volumizing, Separating lashes, lengthening, or curling lashes. Your first step would be to use an eyelash curler prior to using the curling mascara. I've only used Dior Mascara for curling lashes but L'OREAL makes one as well that also works pretty good. Choosing a brand is a personal choice my friend. I recommend doing a little homework to see what happens to be on sale that week.

I love it. It just works. I do it whether or not I’m wearing eyeshadow as it brings a nice dramatic effect to the eyes and you can control how big or small you want it. I especially adore a fishtail liner.

If it is a powder shadow and has had a lid on it, then as a rule, yes it is safe to use past the 2 year expiration date. If you do have a problem with your eyes after applying, then toss it away.

Can you wear false eyelashes without eyeliner?

I don’t see why not. As long as the band isn’t too thick that it’s totally noticeable and your placement is good. Will probably need a bit of mascara though to blend your lashes in the with falsies.

How long do you keep your eye shadows before throwing them out?

I throw them out when they’re used up. Which means I still have palettes I bought 10 years ago. The formula will change over time they won’t be as good, some will crumble and be unusable. Other hold up well. As long as you’re keeping them sanitary and using clean brushes the risk is pretty limited. I’ve never had any issues with my old palettes aside from them not performing as well as new ones, and when that happens I try to use it up rather than throw it out with product still intact.

This isn’t really the advice I’d give a client or customer, but I will be completely honest about my personal habits.

There’s really no rule stating you have to put liner on your waterline. This is for dramatic looks to help really outline your eye. This is great for smoky eyes!

Likewise for tight-lining your upper lash line; this is mostly to help the lash line look thicker, and if you are wearing false lashes, helps to hide any spaces between your natural lashes and the false set.

Which "Dior backstage eye palette" is better for pale skin?

I am pretty pale, and I have a cool olive skin colour and I have the Dior Backstage Cool Neutrals palette. Honestly it’s the best eye palette I own, in terms of everyday flexibility (aside from KVD Shade and Light) — and I’ve owned A LOT including a few Natasha Denona, Jeffree Starr, and several UD palettes to name a few. If you have warm-toned skin then I’d suggest the Warm Neutrals which is equally beautiful and flexible. I have my eye on the Rosewood Neutrals, but am just not sure if I want or need a rosy palette, but I am not interested in the Ambers as I know with my cool/neutral skin it would never look good but for someone with warm or golden tones in the skin I’m sure it would be gorgeous….but probably not pale skin. The Dior Backstage Palette is the one palette I reach for the most often when I’m just not sure what to do and am in a hurry, because it always pulls together a great look and blends easily and nicely with no hassle. I seriously hope to see more from them.

Basically, the method involves using triangles around the important facial features which are the distances between eyes, nose and the lips including the eyebrows. It was found that applying the concentrice triangles to various random faces gave a roughtly normalized traingle as shown below.

This set of triangles provided some ‘magic’ numbers that can be used to obtain the position of the eyes, nose, lips and forehead relative to the face.

It has been applied with some degree of success to a few random facial drawings.

You might need to ask a profession person working in eye care. I do personally say yes. If one thinks about it anything around the eye is an irritant to the delicate eye. I have always worn lots of eye make up and I have severely dry eyes. I have not thought it through but in the last year I have not worn all of this makeup and I don't have the really bad dry eyes. So there you go.

What are some good ways to upload large amounts of data into excel without it crashing?

It can be difficult to load very large data files in Excel for a number of reasons.

It’s worth noting that Excel has fixed limits on the number of rows it can handle, regardless where you load the data from (e.g., a flat file, or a database connection). The maximum row limit in Microsoft Excel is 1,048,576 and the maximum column limit stands at 16,384.

Try reducing the data set size before attempting to open in Excel. You can split the data into smaller XLS or CSV files, and then open the new lighter-weight files in Excel.

Excel performance is highly dependent on the power of your computer. If you have an underpowered or older machine, you’re likely to face issues with Excel freezing or crashing with large amounts of data.

Try closing other applications on your computer to free up memory and resources.

Try opening the file on a more powerful computer.

Try turning off auto-save to prevent the file from growing in size.

An alternative approach would be to use different software to analyze the data, or extract smaller data sets that you can load in Excel.

Thank you for asking me this question!

To be honest, eye makeup is the hardest part of the makeup. So I wouldn’t try out the hardest type of it such as cut crease, smokey eyes… Try out more like natural ones.

Use natural colours, that aren’t so pigmented:

2. Try the Korean makeup out. It’s pretty easy.

3. Don’t do sharp lines. Always blend the shadow.

4. Use glitters. Like shimmers on the palette, it is way easier to use shimmers, than normal colours.

5. Use a normal nude pink colour on the base. Then put some shimmer on it, and you’re done!

I chuckled when I read the question. :-)

“Foolproof?” I cannot tell you how many times folks tell me what they need, because they’ve spent an hour researching on the Internet.

My firm (https://www.L4SB.com/

) competes with LegalZoom and others, selling LLC registrations. When an order comes in, a paralegal will be assigned to the case — we don’t automate. I cannot tell you how many times a week a paralegal will come into my office saying, “Umm, a client is ordering a LLC for her medical practice, but I think she’s in a state where she needs a PC or PLLC.”

Point being, it’s really easy to give clients what they ask for. It’s much harder to really understand what the client is asking, and then make sure they are doing it to serve their best interest.

Manager managed versus member managed? That’s a good question, and there are real legal consequences down the road. A good operating agreement? It’s more important than you might imagine.

If you’re interacting with any third-party, i.e. partners, clients, investors, etc., you owe it to yourself to verify that whoever you’re doing business with will actually have properly licensed attorneys and paralegals helping you.

I have very big, open eyes. To me, they look like almost exact circles. I also have central heterochromia (blue and green). What should I do for my eye makeup?

If you looking to create the illusion of smaller eyes, then use dark colours to make the eye recede. If you want to create a cat eye effect. Use light colours towards the inner eye and dark ones towards the outer sweeping it outwards. Also ensure you rim your eyes with a black liner to further make it look smaller.

Concerning your heterochromia, I think that is such a unique characteristic. You can wear any eye shadow colour that accentuates the dominant eye colour. Coral/copper/earth tones work well for both.

Firstly, you have to determine what is the cause of the creasing. Is it because your lids are too dry or too oily? Or you have deep crease folds on your lids?

If dryness is a concern, moisturize your eye areas well every day & night so eye makeup can go on smoothly.

For oily lids, smudging of makeup will be a problem as well as creasing. Hence, eyeshadow primer is your best friend. Eyeshadow primers can be used to enhance the pigmentation of eyeshadows; it can also make them longer lasting and appear smoother.

To prevent eyeshadow from caking/creasing, apply eyeshadow with a quality makeup brush

after primer. In this case, less is more. So try not to use too much product, and remember to blend well!

CNP fraud is a type of fraud that occurs when a fraudster pays for purchased goods or services without presenting a physical payment card. In such a case, the cybercriminal usually keys in a stolen credit card number into an online payment portal. The ubiquity of online shopping has helped increase the prevalence of this type of cyber fraud, but it also occurs for purchase transactions done by mail or over the phone.

Given that a cardholder cannot be present at all times to show his/her physical card for verification, you need a tool that can at least look for signs that the transaction is legitimate. How do you teach beginners to put on eyeliner?

Firstly, I would recommend someone who has never touched eyeliner to begin with something more forgiving like a felt tip liner, such as this one.

These are more beginner friendly as they are easier to use and don’t dry as crumbly as a liquid liner, which makes it more difficult to correct your mistakes.

Firstly, we want to get some tape (about 1cm long) and place it first on the back of your hand to remove some of the adhesive. Then, apply the tape angled from your waterline near to the end of the eyebrow, depending on what angle you want your liner to be at. This picture shows it best.

As a rule of thumb, you’ll get best results if you follow the natural shape of your waterline. It’s better your liner is too ‘flat’ rather than angled as you can just correct this with concealer.

Now onto applying the product:

Firstly, mark your liner end with a small dot. (image 1, below)

Now, begin by drawing out your bottom line from the waterline to the dot. (image 2)

Next, create a small triangle that will form the wing of the liner. You want to end at around the centre of the eyelid. Also, it’s best to keep your line lower and add more volume as you go, this is easier than having to remove liner. (image 3)

Optional: You can make the liner even darker by applying a dark eye shadow over the top of the line.

Now fill in the line. (image 4) Be sure to be slow and precise and follow the shape of your eye.

To complete the inner eye, all you need to do is draw a small, thin line keeping close to the lash line.

Cleaning up:

You’ll probably have a few mistakes that need correcting. Firstly, we’ll address getting rid of the line between your waterline and the liner.

As you can see, there is a clear separation between the lashes and the liner, which ruins the effect. You can solve this in a few ways, firstly by applying liner under the lashes on your top waterline (more difficult), or by applying some mascara or a pair of lashes to mask the area.

If you have drawn the line out too far or make a mistake, you can easily correct it using a Q-Tip soaked in makeup remover.

Or you can use a small, flat makeup brush with a bit of concealer on it to cover.

And the most important is practice. You will naturally get better the more you do this! Hope it helps.

Can you wear false eyelashes without eyeliner?

The short answer is yes.

There are a few reasons they're commonly worn with eyeliner:

As I'm sure you know, all false lashes are attached to a strip that you glue down just above your natural lashes. Since that strip tends to be black, applying eyeliner first makes it less visible when looking at the eye as a whole.

Your natural lashes don't automatically blend in with the false lashes, so we typically curl the natural ones and blend them with mascara. Blacking the upper water line with eyeliner helps with that blend and enhances the fullness of the lash.

The looks. False lashes tend to be used with dark evening looks and smoky eyes in which eyeliner is a centerpiece.

If you want to go without liner, you may want to Google lash extensions and look at individual false lashes, both of which present less of a problem with visible strips and can be tailored to look natural for an everyday look.
