Living with a narcissist can be challenging and emotionally draining. Narcissistic individuals often exhibit a pattern of self-centeredness, a lack of empathy, and an excessive need for admiration. Here are a few suggestions for coping with a narcissistic person:

Set boundaries: Establish clear boundaries to protect your own well-being. Define what behavior is acceptable and what is not, and communicate your boundaries assertively.

Manage expectations: Recognize that you cannot change a narcissistic individual or make them see the impact of their behavior. Adjust your expectations accordingly to avoid disappointment.

Have you ever tried to have a conversation with a narcissist about their actions, only to be met with defensiveness and hostility? It can be frustrating and confusing, but there are reasons behind their behaviour.

Narcissists have a deeply ingrained belief in their own superiority and infallibility. They see themselves as perfect and flawless, and any criticism or questioning of their actions is seen as a direct assault on their self-image. Because of this, they will do almost anything to avoid discussing their behaviour or admitting any fault.

Instead, narcissists often provoke reactions in others as a way to assert their control and power. They may deliberately push buttons or make controversial statements to get a rise out of people, because it makes them feel more powerful and in control of the situation. For example, a narcissistic boss may constantly criticise and micromanage their employees just to keep them on edge and feeling inferior.

It's important to remember that these behaviours are not healthy or normal, and it's okay to set boundaries and distance yourself from narcissistic individuals. While it may be tempting to try to reason with them or get them to see your point of view, ultimately, their need for control and validation will always take precedence over any rational discussion. Stay strong, and take care of yourself!

The mother of my child was a major one. When we separated, her main goal was to do everything in her power to make me suffer more even if she was the one who left. It hurted so much that I have been single for 12 years, to affraid to even think that I could suffer like that one more time.

Shantell Butler experienced this. Very damaging to children. They love their parents & the narcissist want to be the light of their life and make the other parent the worst. I was told to love & pray for the affected children. Let the narcissist be the grand one. Be confident in the gift of love God gave you. Don't be in competition. Let the narcissist spend all their time & $ showing off. I don't have all the answers. Talking years to heal from it.
