I Tested Jessica Alba's Honest Beauty Line And Here's What You Should Try
Can I just look a little bit like her? Please?

If you've been on any type of social media in the last year, you know that gorgeous superwoman Jessica Alba has her own beauty line, Honest Beauty.

She launched this line in Fall 2015 (amid a lawsuit against her other company, The Honest Company) and focuses on safe, eco-friendly beauty products that aren't tested on animals, yay!

Because her makeup and hair is literally always perfect, I wanted to try some of the most popular products to see what all the hoopla is about.
I tested the following products:

  1. Refreshingly Clean Powder Cleanser ($22)2. Magic Balm ($18)3. The Younger Eye Cream ($28)4. Everything Primer ($27)5. Everything Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free in Cream ($28)6. Truly Kissable Lip Crayon – Demi-Matte in Marsala Kiss ($18)7. Crème Blush in Truly Teasing ($38)8. Truly Lush Mascara + Lash Primer ($22)9. Dry Condition + Shine Serum ($20)10. Beyond Hydrated Moisture Milk Leave-In Conditioner ($20)11. Honestly Effortless Sea Salt Spray ($18)I'm just one person trying these products, and they may be better suited to other people, but here's what I thought about 'em!

I'm just one person trying these products, and they may be better suited to other people, but here's what I thought about 'em

  13. Everything Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free in Cream ($28)For a tinted moisturizer, it's ridiculously thick (comes out like a very thick paste) but it has minimal coverage. It's also difficult to blend, and only comes in seven shades.2. Crème Blush in Truly Teasing ($38)This blush didn't blend very well, felt sticky, and was just kind of annoying to apply TBH.3. Honestly Effortless Sea Salt Spray ($18)While this spray gave me hair a lot of texture and some loose waves, it also made my hair feel very, very dry and pretty tangled, which wasn't fun.4. Beyond Hydrated Moisture Milk Leave-In Conditioner ($20)This did very little for my super dry hair. I've tried better. NEXT!

  18. Truly Kissable Lip Crayon – Demi-Matte in Marsala Kiss ($18)

I looooove this lip crayon. I like lip crayons in general because they're way easier to apply than lipsticks, but this one in particular is wonderful. It comes in six beautiful shades, and is an Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner 2016. I love that it's demi-matte – it's the perfect in between.
PROS

  • pretty great staying power, even after eating
  • very moisturizing
  • easy to apply
  • beautiful shade
  • packaging (no need to sharpen, it's a twist-up!)

CONS

  • NONE!! THIS IS BEAUTIFUL
    Get it here for $18.
  1. Truly Lush Mascara + Lash Primer ($22)

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE? This mascara + primer duo is absolutely amazing. You apply the primer first (the white) which will help to lengthen your natural lashes. After you wait for it to dry (it'll dry clear) you then apply the mascara for some VA-VA-FUCKING VOOM action.

I KNOW, I GET IT – it doesn't look like it did shit, but I have REALLY short, downward facing lashes so just the fact that my lashes are up is honestly, a little victory. I've never been able to get my eyelashes to stay up all day until this, and I don't need to re-curl which is amazing. Wow. Yes. Wowowowow.
PROS

  • has primer on one end and mascara on the other
  • lashes stay curled
  • lengthens lashes

CONS

  • not as much product overall
    Get it here for $22.
  1. Magic Balm ($18)
This hydrating, all-purpose balm can be used on your lips, face, cuticles, elbows etc. At first, I did not like this at all – it felt grainy, oily, and the packaging just didn't seem very hygienic to me. But IDK, I kept reaching for it and would freak out if I couldn't find it. I have very dry skin, especially in the winter, and this little product has been crushing its moisturizing duties.PROS- super moisturizing- all-purposeCONS- not a lot of product, especially if you use it for literally everything like meGet it here for $18.

  1. Everything Primer ($27)
This Everything Primer is everything to me. While I'm not a huge fan of the packaging (it's so bulky!), I absolutely love the watery texture it has. It does a really good job of smoothing over my acne and also keeping everything hydrated, which is great because I have fallen victim to the dried up patches of acne showing through my foundation multiple times. I would definitely be okay just wearing this primer and nothing else on my face! And when you compare the price to other popular face primers at Sephora, it's a solid $5-10 cheaper. PROS- watery consistency- smoothes over acne- slight shimmer gives face more of a glow- great price- Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner 2015CONS- bulky packaging Get it here for $27.

  1. Refreshingly Clean Powder Cleanser ($22)

This powder cleanser comes packaged up in 30 convenient little packets. It foams up easily as you rub your hands together, and isn't messy at all (you would think!) This is the most gentle cleanser I have ever tried on my face, while still leaving my face feeling super clean.
PROS

  • great for travel
  • super gentle
  • light exfoliation

  1. Dry Condition + Shine Serum ($20)

So I have very, VERY dry hair. Once, my friend started brushing my hair and stopped, shocked, because it "felt like a horse's ass." Personally, I disagree. Horse ass hair is better than mine. This product definitely got rid of a lot of frizz that I normally and added a bit of shine.
PROS

  • weightless
  • not too oily
  • made hair softer
  1. The Younger Eye Cream ($28)

I don't have too much experience with eye creams, but the ones I have tried before this have definitely had a stinging effect. This one... did not!
PROS

  • super refreshing
  • doesn't sting
  • instant plumping effect
  • undereye is slightly less blue/dark

CONS

  • not a very visible difference
I wasn't actually expecting to find any products that I absolutely loved, but there are definitely a few that I will incorporate into my routine from now on.
I also really like what the company stands for, and the fact that while my skin doesn't look better, it also hasn't gotten worse and I haven't broken out since I started using the products. If you want to try some for yourself, you can request a sample kit for free (well, you gotta pay the $5.95 shipping). You do you!
