Drones have been around for a long time, but it's only been a few years that their commercial versions have appeared on the market and are on the rise. Photographers have traded in their traditional working tools to gain height and take truly impressive shots.

Using a drone is a great way to explore things from a different perspective, whether you're a pro or a hobbyist, although this hobby comes at a definite cost. Some sell on sites like Amazon for several thousand dollars. As technology in this field is constantly evolving, these pictures are just a glimpse of what one might imagine in the long term.

1. The Gray Whale That Plays With Tourists

Probably used drone: SwellPro Splash Drone 3
Where to buy: SwellPro.com
Price: $ 1,399 *

In this photo, we can see a group of tourists on a small pleasure boat. A gray whale comes to titillate them by bumping gently against them, thus offering them a memorable photo shoot. According to Animal Planet , it is likely that these tourists simply crossed the path of this whale during one of its migrations. The gray whale is indeed a “great migrant”, being able to travel up to 20,000 km (round trip) per year.

This photo would be perfect for a waterproof drone like the SwellPro Splash Drone 3. The manufacturer of this drone - SwellPro - knowing its popularity with fishermen, offers it with an optional "Fishing Package". The Splash Drone 3 is able to withstand a splash of water if the gray whale hits the surface of the water with its tail.

2. The Fishing Net

Drone probably used: Potensic T25 GPS
Where to buy: Amazon
Price: $ 200 to $ 250 *.

This magnificent shot by Trung Pham Huy is called “Le Filet de Pêche”. Huy's choice of drone is not known, but the aquatic nature of the photo reveals that a model like the Potensic T25 GPS may have been used.

You can buy the Potensic T25 on Amazon . This drone, rated 4.1 / 5 on the merchant site, has a 1080P HD live video camera, wide angle and adjustable. 3. The Weather Serpent

Drone probably used: DJI Mavic Air 2
Where to buy: DJI Drones
Price: $ 799 *

Drone photographer Ovi D Pop won the “Abstract” category of the Drone Awards with “The Weather Snake,” a photo so well defined that it appears to be an optical illusion. The model of the drone used is not clear, but this aerial shot could have been taken with a drone such as the DJI Mavic Air 2, which allows you to "master the skies" in the words of the manufacturer, and which gets a 5/5 on Google . Although it is not accessible to everyone, the artistic quality it achieves is well worth the effort.Advertising

6. Koi carp

Probably used drone: PowerVision PowerEgg X Explorer
Where to buy: Amazon
Price: $ 1000 *.

All of those incredible photos captured by drones don't necessarily require you to climb thousands of meters above sea level. Some of them can rise high enough to offer a whole new perspective from the sky. While PowerVision's PowerEgg Z Explorer may not be able to reach the height of its competition, it is nonetheless worth a look.

At first glance, this image looks like an unremarkable mix of black and orange paint adorned with golden speckles, but in reality it's about dozens and dozens of koi carp swimming together on a farm in Oxfordshire, England. Drone probably used: PowerVision PowerEye
Where to buy: Drones Direct

The DJI Mavic Air 2 is widely recognized as a great, versatile device for anyone looking to get started with drones. While some see them from below, drones like the DJI Spark allow us to see them from a whole new height.

Price: $ 500 *

You don't have to invest more than $ 1000 in a drone to take interesting shots. A model like the Parrot BeBop costs less than $ 500 and can still take shots as striking as this one. This man was far from suspecting while bathing quietly that he was only a few meters from a huge shark.

Where Herons Live @ oko.magazine / Facebook.com

Dmitri Viliunov allowed us to see where herons have made their home thanks to his aerial photography titled “Where Herons Live”. This ethereal photo, which almost looks like a painting, won first prize in the “Fauna” category at the Drone Awards. The DJI Mini 2 Quadcopter could very well have been used for this shot. Indeed, it has the altitude capabilities necessary to reach the height where the herons nest, while being small and discreet enough not to frighten them.Advertising

Everyone's lives were turned upside down when the coronavirus pandemic struck. Lockdowns and other isolation measures have made social distancing a harsh reality, and "The Lockdown", a photo by Bachir Moukarzel, shows how the usually busy highways and traffic lanes have been. deserted when restrictions were put in place.

It was the publication's choice for 2020, the year this photo was taken.Advertising

Mehmet Aslan's “Carpet Field” received a “Special Mention” in the “People” category of the Drone Awards. If carpet manufacturers expose rugs to the sun, it is to bring out the different colors. Natural light modifies and strengthens the pigmentation of carpets. Black tip sharks, as well as turtles and leopard rays, are most commonly seen in Walker's Cay National Park. Black tip sharks are usually quite timid, observing divers and swimmers from a distance. Today, with the coronavirus pandemic, snaps like these, bringing together thousands of fans, are a scene from the past that we hope we can relive soon.
