No. They did not let him fly the F18, when he is an accomplished pilot and has a licence. They had not allowed him to fly an F14 in 1986 before he was trained or licensed.
He flew a few helicopters and a P51 fighter plane in the rest of the film, but could not be covered by insurance to fly a $70 million military jet. I wonder if the army was aware of its net worth?

in Quora in English:
The badges on Maverick's jacket are a rather unusual mix. I know some well, others do not. In the end, it is not very representative of what an F-14 pilot was wearing at the time. Some badges belong to ships that were not aircraft carriers, and I think there is one from a "Seabee" seaplane. Very weird!
Pilots are free to wear the ones they want on their jacket. As a rule, most wear that of their squadron, the "Centurion" crest of their ship (which means that you have made 100 landings), that of the aircraft model they fly, and sometimes others that have no particular meaning.
Although most others did it at the time, I never sewed badges on my beautiful leather jacket. Instead, I put them on my synthetic jacket.
From left to right and from top to bottom:
- The badge of my F-4 Phantom.
- That of my VF-1 squadron
- My patronymic badge VF-1
- My crest from the Topgun school
- The crest of the 200 combat missions
- The "Centurion" crest of the USS Midway
I also have a few that I have never sewn, one or two of which appear on Tom Cruise's jacket.

In the last scene of Top Gun, when Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis meet in the bar, the two actors had to be the same size, which was difficult to obtain since McGillis is 1m78 tall and Tom Cruise 1m70.
A small trench was therefore built in the floor of the bar so that the actress could walk towards Tom Cruise while being at her height.
In the other scenes of the film where the two actors are close to each other, Tom Cruise wears boots with big heels and McGillis simply does not wear shoes, and never stands straight!

Thanks to Mr. Briais to ask this kind of question... Answering it would require an entire book and again... Being a screenwriter and therefore a little masochistic, I will still try to provide a potential start to answer.
This question is in fact THE question that every director - producer - actor - screenwriter should ask himself and that yet they do not ask themselves, not always in any case, far from it.
On the one hand, cinema is not an art like any other. It is a collective art, there are multiple talents who will contribute to it. Reducing a film to its director is simply ridiculous,

This decision proved all the more unfortunate for Travolta because he was going to enter a small crossing of the desert that would see his rating drop dramatically in the years to come.
When he refuses Top Gun, he has just finished the filmPerfect, which was to extend his success as an actor-dancer after Saturday Night Fever, Grease and Staying Alive.

Before becoming the star he is today by playing in films such as Rain Man, Top Gun, Jerry Maguire and Mission Impossible, Tom Cruise had a role in the 1983 film Outsiders. Sex symbol of the 1990s became sect symbol in the mid-2000s. EVERYTHING plays at Cruise, to the millimeter: from his tense jaw to a salute of his hand to the slightest wick protruding from his opulent hair! And the animal knows how to do everything! Tom Superman Cruise, a pure action issue, is the man of the situation.
Tom is a fascinating actor. Yes, I agree with the pretty shunker Léa Seydoux. If we put aside his hateful proselytism towards the church of Scientology, to flee from any berzingue, we will find that man, if he is not seem exciting in everyday life has become, over time, a remarkable actor, knowing how to vary registers and interpretations. How far away is the time of the smooth bellth of Top Gun (1985)! Since then, Tom has gained stripes, it must be said that he has worked with the best: Coppola's Outsiders, Scorsese's Silver Color, Oliver Stone's Born on July 4, Mission: Impossible by Brian De Palma, John Woo's M: I 2, Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia, Michael Mann's Collateral, Spielberg's Minerity Report and Spielberg's War of the Worlds and so on.
Frankly, which contemporary actor can boast of such a filmography? Very little. We also appreciate at home, even if we guess that it is partly to restore his image to an audience that is suspicious of his media-sectarian pangs, the comic register he has been deploying for some time.

Did Tom Cruise fly the F-14 Tomcat in Top Gun?

No, Tom Cruise did not drive an F/A-18 for Top gun2. But it's well stolen in it, instead of the weapon system officer.
The Navy refused to leave a $67 million fighter plane that could fly at more than 1800Km/h in the hands of a civilian. Piloted this type of aircraft requires several months of training just to "fly" safely. So do flights in tight formation...
Added to this the question of liability in the event of an incident. Even if the aircraft can be reimbursed, the responsibility will fall on the Navy, with serious consequences.
On the other hand, he flew well

Why hasn't Tom Cruise (actor) aged while Kelly McGillis has since Top Gun(1986)?
Yes, he has aged.
And it shows.
Several things:
- Although Cruise and McGillis used surgery, Mc Gillis' surgery worked less well. If you compare their photos from 1986 to now, it is obvious that they both used them, but on Tom, it worked better.
- McGillis no longer seems to wear makeup. Most of the photos taken of her show that she no longer wears much makeup. If she had really wanted to hide her age, she would have made up more.

Worrying from a moral point of view! Money takes precedence over everything!
But I don't think it's the first time!
In sport, it also exists!
I remember a French World Cup goal, cancelled following the intervention of the Emir of Kuwait! and it's been more than 30 years!
.
In the case of Tom Cruise, it is all the more 'shocking' when you know his religious investments!
We are in his case, in total hypocrisy.

Not only is the film very fun - exciting, funny, moving - but there are no drafts that remove magic, no heinous political points, no conferences, no repulsive sufficiency.
Not only does the film live up to its reputation, but it surpasses it. People are looking forward to seeing him again.

in Quora in English:

However, for the Top Gun 2 movie, the US Navy refused him to fly the F-18 Super Hornet. This aircraft costs $70 Million, which is approximately half of the film production cost.
So, we can think that insurance problems are at the root, as every time a main star makes stunts risk.

As far as I know, it has never been used in aviation. Yes, there is a radar altimeter that gives you the distance from the ground. But it is the radar effect therefore, the time taken by the signal and not the change of frequency that is the Doppler effect.
Yes, some large carriers have a radar in their nose but it is a radar to detect the position of a very large area of precipitation to bypass them. This does not measure their movement like some ground weather radars.

Hello to "Toustes". Does Brad Pitt grow older than Tom Cruise? I pass on the fact that the second does not have my favors, I do not like man and what he represents, and that I am not a fan of the first either, except in "Inglorious Bastards", I would answer yes: Brad Pitt is getting older than Tom Cruise. In my opinion, Pitt accepts the natural transformation brought about by the years, while Cruis still wants to be the young first of "Top Gun", the beautiful, dark, super manly superhero... The recent changes he has made to himself are far from successful

The part that is wrong is that THERE IS NO ESCAPE Let me say it again, THERE IS NO ESCAPE. This is not how the tax code works. Another answer says that the tax code is complex, but that it is complex only in its scope, not in its substance. The tax code must cover countless situations and find ways to solve these problems. How long can a submarine stay underwater?

Location: I lived in Belgium, Spain and Norway. (1948–today)11 Feb.
The submarine I was using had enough oxygen to stay underwater for twelve hours. So we had an oxygen bottle and a carbon dioxide sensor.
In 1975, another submarine of our company Intersub was caught by cables under the Beryl Alpha platform in the North Sea. We were then called urgently to dive and cut the cables that held this submarine there. Fortunately, we were able to do it within 12 hours.
But you are certainly talking about larger and military submarines. In this case, it's a military secret and I can't answer you... or to paraphrase Tom Cruise in "Top Gun" I can answer you but then I'll have to kill you! ;-)
Here is our small two-seater submarine boarding its support ship, the Sea Stork.

If you had asked Tom Cruise the question in the movie Top Gun, he would have answered you "I can't answer you or I do it and then I have to kill you!" ... ;-)
You understand that a fighter plane is military and its identification system is top-secret.
Otherwise, for other pilots, we cannot fly without identifying ourselves. It is the "transponder" that transmits a code from 0000 to 7777 that will identify you to air traffic controllers.
Of course, military controllers are different from civilians but they work together. One day, here in Norway, I was flying with my little avio

Tom Cruises is an excellent pilot. It is certified on jet aircraft, helicopter and propeller aircraft.
However, for the Top Gun 2 movie, the US Navy refused him to fly the F-18 Super Hornet. This aircraft costs $70 Million, which is approximately half of the film production cost.
So, we can think that insurance problems are at the root, as every time a main star makes stunts risk.
For the US Navy, although Cruises is certified on jet aircraft, it has no recent experience on supersonic aircraft. It is therefore considered a risk p

What do the different patches on Pete "Maverick" Mitchell's jacket actually mean? Are they purely fictional and decorative?

How did Tom Cruise overcome dyslexia?
Tom Cruise was born in Syracuse, New York, son of a special education teacher. His family was relatively poor and he had to move several times from one community to another and from one school to another.
In 2nd Grade (CE1), he struggled with his dyslexia at school:
"When I was about 7, I was called dyslexic. I was trying to focus on what I was reading, then I arrived at the end of the page and I had very little memory of what I had read. I had whites, I felt anxious, nervous, bored, frustrated, mute. I was getting angry. My legs made me

They did not receive pilot training to my knowledge, but just like Tom Cruise for the first Top Gun, they were treated to a baptism of the air aboard fighters to soak up the associated sensations and thus perfect their game.

Does Brad Pitt grow older than Tom Cruise???

Hello to "Toustes". Does Brad Pitt grow older than Tom Cruise? I pass on the fact that the second does not have my favors, I do not like man and what he represents, and that I am not a fan of the first either, except in "Inglorious Bastards", I would answer yes: Brad Pitt is getting older than Tom Cruise. In my opinion, Pitt accepts the natural transformation brought about by the years, while Cruis still wants to be the young first of "Top Gun", the beautiful, dark, super manly superhero... The recent changes he has made to himself are far from successful

How do wealthy people know lots of tax loopholes?
Part of the unveiled premise of this question is true, the other part is false.
However, the tax provisions are quite simple.

The film that marked my youth is Top Gun. I saw him a dozen times several years ago and even today. I think Tom Cruise is excellent in the role of a pilot. I loved the action scenes as well as the end. In short, for my part, this is a cult film!

Time works differently for the eternal Tom Cruise: It's really incredible, but actor Tom Cruise came back to make a successful sequel to the legendary movie Top Gun - and he had a record box office release. As for the fact that it is immortal? That everyone already knew.

Original answer: How do fighter planes see the night? Do they just spot each other with a radar?

Is Doppler navigation still used for civil aviation?

As far as I know, it has never been used in aviation. Yes, there is a radar altimeter that gives you the distance from the ground. But it is the radar effect therefore, the time taken by the signal and not the change of frequency that is the Doppler effect.
Yes, some large carriers have a radar in their nose but it is a radar to detect the position of a very large area of precipitation to bypass them. This does not measure their movement like some ground weather radars.
My father was a military pilot. I was an ULM pilot for 16 years. I have worked for the brand all my life

A few years ago, I left, alone, with my small sailboat, from the Oslo Fjord, to southern Norway when, at about six o'clock in the morning I see... a periscope! He turns to me and then disappears underwater.
A few days later, I'm at work and I tell this to a colleague who had been a Norwegian naval officer. He tells me that, the previous weekend, there were NATO military maneuvers on the south coast of Norway. The

Top Gun: Maverick, the blockbuster critic of the 75th Cannes Film FestivalI really wanted to see this film because I love the soundtrack "Take my breath away" in Berlin... But in the end, I didn't hang on at all, unfortunately. I find this film of extreme simplicity and slowness... Even if the film manages from time to time to make us get two-three little smiles, the script is not crazy despite Tom Cruise's good acting....
Well, I don't regret seeing it because at least I made my own opinion and in addition, it is considered "cult" so it's all
