Celeste Ayala : Argentinian Police Officer Who Breastfeed A Baby While On Duty Gets Promotion

The Story Went Viral In August, The Child Had Just Been Taken Away From His Mother.

In a touching incident that unfolded at Sor María Ludovica children’s hospital near Buenos Aires, Argentina, police officer Celeste Ayala has been promoted following her compassionate act towards a distressed baby. The incident, which occurred on 14 August, coincidentally the national day of the female officer in Argentina, gained widespread attention after Ayala's colleague, Marcos Heredia, shared a photo on Facebook capturing the touching moment.

Ayala was on duty when she heard the cries of a baby who had recently been separated from his mother. Showing remarkable empathy, she approached hospital management and, with their approval, proceeded to breastfeed the hungry child.

Her colleague, Heredia, expressed admiration for Ayala's spontaneous act of love in his Facebook post, which has since been shared more than 100,000 times.

The post read: “I want to make public this great gesture of love that you made today with that baby, who you did not know, but for whom you did not hesitate to act like a mother. You did not care if he was dirty or smelly … Things like that are not seen every day.”

Ayala, speaking to the website Cronica, shared her experience, stating, “I noticed that he was hungry, as he was putting his hand into his mouth, so I asked to hug him and breastfeed him. It was a sad moment, it broke my soul seeing him like this. Society should be sensitive to the issues affecting children; it cannot keep happening.”

The baby, reportedly one of six siblings who were malnourished, became a symbol of the challenges facing vulnerable children in society.

Cristian Ritondo, the minister of security of Buenos Aires province, took to Twitter to announce Ayala’s well-deserved promotion from officer to sergeant.

Ayala's volunteer work at the local fire department also received praise, with the department stating, “Actions like this fill us with pride.” The promotion recognizes not only Ayala's dedication to her duty but also her exceptional display of humanity, setting a positive example for law enforcement officers nationwide.
