Graham Platner arrest, Morgan Stanley advisor fraud, SEC investigation, financial advisor Ponzi scheme, Wall Street scandal 2026 — This is the story breaking right now.
Graham Platner, a former Morgan Stanley financial advisor, was arrested this morning at his Greenwich, Connecticut home by FBI agents. The 54-year-old faces federal charges for allegedly defrauding clients of more than $5 million through an elaborate Ponzi scheme that operated for over seven years.
The SEC filed a 27-page complaint detailing how Platner targeted elderly retirees and small business owners, promising "alternative investment strategies" with guaranteed returns of 8-12%. Instead, investigators say Platner used client funds to purchase a $2.3 million penthouse in Manhattan, a 60-foot yacht he named "Trust Fund," and an exotic car collection including Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
"Mr. Platner abused the trust of his clients in the most egregious way possible," said SEC Enforcement Director Gurbir Grewal. "He fabricated returns, created fake account statements, and spent investor money on personal luxuries."
The investigation began after a whistleblower complaint in December 2025. FBI agents raided Platner's home on Tuesday, seizing computers, financial records, and approximately $1.2 million in cash. Platner is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn pending a bail hearing scheduled for Friday.
Platner's attorney, Marcello Fernandez, issued a statement saying his client "intends to fight these charges vigorously." However, multiple former clients have come forward with stories of devastation. One client, 72-year-old retired teacher Margaret Sullivan, told reporters she lost her entire $840,000 retirement savings.
"I trusted him for 15 years," Sullivan said. "He was at my husband's funeral. And now I have nothing."
As the investigation continues, federal agents are urging any additional victims to come forward. Read more breaking news on YEET Magazine.
