In other words, any person required, at some point in their life, to (re) find their rightful place in society: the one that suits them best and where they can flourish.
In this article: Determine your areas of interest Define your skills Analyze your current situation Consider your future
Choosing the right career can be difficult, but your job will be easier if you already have a well-defined career goal. You can set yourself on the path to a successful and fulfilling career that can support you and your family if you work hard, know how to organize yourself, and think hard about it.
Part 1
Determine your areas of interest
- Consider the career of your dreams. There is an old saying that if you want to choose a career, you should think about what you would want to do if you didn't need to work. If you had a million dollars and could do anything, what would you do? The answer to this question can give you an idea of what you should do, although it might not be the best career choice for you.
- If you want to become a music star, consider a profession related to the audiovisual industry or the music industry. These careers are more accessible and you will have a better chance of succeeding and earning enough to ensure you an income for the future.
- If you want to become an actor or actress, consider working for a television medium. You can earn a degree in communications or climb the ranks of a regional television station.
- If you want to travel and experience the world, consider becoming a flight attendant or flight attendant. It's a great way to make a living and make your dream of traveling the world come true.
2. Take a look at your hobbies. It is very easy to make a future career out of a hobby or activity that you enjoy. Many leisure activities correspond to needs in the labor market. See what you love to do and how that passion could turn into a career.
- If, for example, you enjoy playing video games, consider becoming an IT developer or computer gadget specialist.
- If you love to draw (or art in general), consider becoming a graphic designer.
- If you love sports, consider becoming a teacher or getting a sports trainer certificate.
3 . Remember the subjects you liked about school. Traditional university studies can easily be converted into a career, but require a higher level of education than other careers. Your favorite subject in college may well launch you into your future career if you are willing to work seriously on it.
- If, for example, you liked chemistry, you might consider a career in a lab or as a pharmacist.
- If you like English literature, you might consider becoming a publisher or working in the book business.
- If you liked math, consider becoming an accountant or a career in a bank.
Part 2
Define your skills
1
Think about what you are or what you were good at in school. Think about the school subjects in which you are good at. While it might not be what you absolutely want to do, but choosing a career that is based on real skill can help you excel at it and ensure a secure future.
- See the examples in the previous steps if you need ideas.
2
Define the skills you are good at. If you are especially good at specific skills like repairing or crafting items, this can provide you with a great future career opportunity. Some formal education may or may not be necessary, but manual skills are in great demand and you will find work fairly easily.
- Carpentry work, for example, car repair, construction and electrical installations are very suitable for people who are good at repairing and are very manual. These activities also tend to be stable and well paid.
- Other skills such as a talent for cooking can also easily become a career goal.
3
See your communication skills. If your talents lie more in helping and communicating with others, there are also jobs for you. People who know how to communicate and interact with others can easily find work in the social environment, in sales and in similar business careers.
- If you are one of those people who enjoy taking care of others, consider a profession in the medical community or being in charge of human resources for a company.
4
If you don't know what to do, ask the others! Sometimes it is difficult for us to see what areas of our lives we are good at. If you don't think you're good for anything, ask your parents, other family members, friends, or teachers what they think of your talents. Their ideas may surprise you!
Part 3
Analyze your current situation
1
Explore yourself. You should know yourself better so that you can decide what to do with your life. If you want a career that is truly successful for you, you need to have a solid understanding of what you want and value. For some people, that means taking some free time to decide what really matters to them.
- There is nothing wrong with that, don't beat yourself up. It's more important that you define your life as early as possible than finding yourself entangled in a career that makes you hate your existence.
2
See your financial situation. Your ability to continue or change careers may depend on your financial situation. Certain professional paths require specialized education which is sometimes very expensive. However, you should not think that your lack of resources is an obstacle to the studies you want to pursue. There are loads of state aid that can pay you for your courses, scholarships, and grant programs.
3
Consider your educational background when deciding to embark on a career. It is important to know your current or upcoming educational background when deciding to pursue a career. It may also be necessary to settle for your current professional or university degrees if there is a time limitation or other impediment. If you find that you are limited to jobs related to your level of education, consult a guidance counselor to find out what career opportunities are open to you.
4
Remember to go back to school. If you don't have any major obstacles to going back to school, you might want to consider this solution. Not everyone is good at school or requires a formal college education, but most career plans also come with in-house training that you can participate in that can help you climb the ladder faster.
- Technical schools or universities, for example, can be a good alternative for those who do not want to pursue a traditional university education.
5
Do more research. If you still don't know what to do, consider reading more about it. You can find other useful information online or make an appointment with your school's education advisor.
Part4
Consider your future
See what careers you can easily access. See what careers are open to you that you can pursue without a hitch. It could be careers where you have both the necessary skills and privileged access. You could, for example, work in the same company as one of your parents, work in a family business, or partner with a friend. If your choices are narrow, the best solution for you would be to choose a career that is easily accessible to you.
2
Think about your future financial security. One of the most important things to assess is whether your career choice is going to provide you with some financial security. In other words, will you be able to earn enough money to support yourself and your family?
- Remember, you don't have to earn a lot of money or what others find acceptable. All that matters is that it is enough for you and for what you want to do in your life.
3
See if your professional future is stable. Equally important is whether the upcoming career is stable. The job market is fluctuating because society needs something else all the time at different times. Some jobs are also in high demand or often very unstable. You will need to see if the career of your choice is stable enough for you and your needs in the future.
- Many people, for example, have been eager for careers in law and have accumulated huge debts due to credits opened to pay for great schools, because they thought they would get big salaries quickly. However, legal jobs are not as in demand as in the past and these people are now heavily in debt and cannot find a way to pay them back.
- Another example is self-employment as a writer or some other freelance career. Sometimes you will have a lot of work, but there will also be years when you earn next to nothing. Working like this requires a fairly high level of self-confidence, discipline and determination and it is not given to everyone.
4
See the website of the Ministry of Employment. One way to assess the relevance of your career choice is to consult statistics from the Ministry of Employment. It is a statistical study and a guide to know what level of education is required for all kinds of jobs, the average salaries in use in the profession as well as the probability of the increase or decrease. demand in this industry.[1]
Advice
- It's not the end of the world if you choose a career that isn't in line with your childhood dreams. If you have a job that doesn't make you miserable, but covers your needs and those of your family, you will be amazed at how much satisfaction you can get from this career and your life.
- You rarely know right away which career to pursue and it often takes many years for most people to find their way. Don't think you are lagging behind!
- If you don't like your current career, change it! Sometimes it takes more work, especially if you're older, but anyone can do it.
Warnings
- Beware of all those jobs that promise you easy money. This kind of job does not exist.
- Don't get caught up in fraudulent investments or any other such transaction. It can put you in debt or even send you to jail.
- Beware of job offers in a faraway country. Do a thorough investigation of the company before you travel to accept a job. At best you will be ripped off, at worst you will lose your life.
