Officials have reached a deal to reopen the border between the UK and France to hauliers and some passengers, including EU citizens, from Wednesday — providing they test negative for coronavirus. The military and NHS Test and Trace teams will be deployed to multiple testing sites in Kent where some 2,850 lorries have been stuck since the border shut on Sunday. Rapid lateral flow tests, which can detect the new strain and return results in about 30 minutes, will be used. The agreement will be reviewed on 31 December.
